Kitchen Wall Decals

I am starting out the week with another new kitchen wall decal.  This one carries a little message to try and eat well everyday, simplify your life as best you can, and always remember to laugh along the way!  It measures 17.5" X 8.5".  We cut this one in black vinyl but other colors are always available.

We will continue this week to develop new kitchen wall quotes so if you have a favorite quote or saying place it in the comments.  We love suggestions!  This one is available in our Etsy Shop:

Kitchen Vinyl Wall Decals

Bistro Vinyl Kitchen Wall Decal
Here is my newest kitchen vinyl design.  This was just listed yesterday in my Etsy Shop.  I have been getting a lot of requests lately for custom kitchen vinyl designs, so I decided I needed to design a few to have in my shop.

I actually plan on putting this one in my own kitchen!  I think it can add a special touch to any type of kitchen decor you happen to have.  It is shown here in black vinyl but we have most colors of vinyl and can be cut in any color.

I am looking forward to getting more kitchen designs listed next week...so if anyone has any suggestions for a design...maybe something you have been looking for but can't find....just post your suggestions here in the comments! Here is a link to this one:

Best Ever Cinnamon Chip Scones

This is my all time favorite cinnamon scone recipe.  My best girlfriend gave me this recipe along with a bag of cinnamon chips for my birthday.  It was at a really busy time of the year for me, so I filed the recipe, put the cinnamon chips in the freezer, and before I knew it 2 or 3 months went by.  When I finally got around to trying them I could not believe how wonderful they tasted!  And now...I can't quit making them!!  And eating them!!  The cinnamon chips are all natural and come from a small little Amish grocery store.  Try to use chips without paraffin...they tend to melt better.   So...hope you try them...but be careful...they are addictive.  And of course are always best when served right out of the oven with a great latte or espresso!!

Cinnamon Chip Scones ( makes 12 )

3 Cups flour                              3/4 Cup cold butter
1/3 Cup sugar + 2 Tbsp            1 Cup Buttermilk
2 1/2 tsp baking pwd                1 2/3 Cup Cinnamon Chips
1/2 tsp baking soda                   2 Tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Heat oven to 425.  Stir together flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking pwd, baking soda and salt in a lg bowl.  Cut butter into 1/2 inch slices and using a pastry blender, mix butter into flour mixture until coarse crumbs form.  Add buttermilk.  Stir with fork just til ingredients are moistened and soft dough forms.  Add cinnamon chips.  Gather dough into a ball, pressing gently to hold together.  Turn out onto lightly floured work surface; knead briefly, about a dozen turns.  Cut dough into 2 halves.

Cut in Butter

  • Roll or pat one piece of dough at a time into a 7" circle 1/2 " thick.  Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.  Cut into 6 triangles and place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  •
    Cut into 6 Triangles

  • Repeat with second half of dough.
  • Back 10 min or until tops are golden.  Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
  • Serve warm or at room temp.  They do freeze well.
  • Enjoy!!
  • I do set my oven rack up one notch when baking these....but that is just my oven.!

Warm right from the oven!

Fingerless Gloves by crochetjandra

This weeks featured Etsy Item

I absolutely love this pair of fingerless gloves.  I actually have this pair only in gray so I can speak from experience!  I have discovered that wearing fingerless gloves is not only a great fashion statement but also a practical one.  They are great because you are not constantly taking them off and on, losing them, or trying to stuff them in your pocket or purse.  You just put them on going out the door and leave them on while you dig for your keys, answer your cell, text a message, shop, or do whatever.  Thats why they work!  The ones you are looking at are great because they have a nice weight, hold their shape, and are very warm.  Here's the shop where they can be found:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/crochetjandra?ref=ss_profile
And here they are in three different colors!!  http://www.etsy.com/shop/crochetjandra?section_id=7886279

Morning Coffee

Morning Coffee
Here is my first Etsy Treasury posting.  Titled "Morning Coffee" it is created  by ArtHarmony, an Etsy Shop.   If you are not familiar with Etsy or with the treasuries...here goes.  Treasuries are made by Etsy sellers.  They pick 16 different items from 16 different shops usually with a theme in mind.  The theme can be anything they like....maybe a certain color, season, or a collection of gifts.  They can be all about food, or vintage items, different textures, or created with a guy or gal in mind.  If you are a coffee lover like I am you will love this coffee themed treasury. All of the choices are centered around the color of a great cup of joe.....maybe even an espresso!  This one caught my eye because , as I said, I love a really good cup of coffee ( a latte actually ) and my Daily Grind vinyl is included here also. There are tons of treasuries on Etsy.  You can even shop the treasuries.  It is a great way to shop  because the items are usually outstanding and are already gathered around an interest you might have.  So check out the treasuries on Etsy and check here for one featured every week!  Here is a link to this treasury and a link to the shop that created it!  Hope you enjoy discovering Treasury shopping!

Vinyl Decal Lettering Subway Art Winter Wishes by Mulberry Creek
I have always wondered what exactly the definition of Subway Art is so....From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Subway Art is a collaborative book by Martha Cooper and Henry Chalfant, which documents the early history of the New York graffiti  I guess I think of it as a style of art that came from ordinary people that used the subway walls as their canvas.  I do think it is very interesting and has a lot of possibilities.
Ideas can come from anywhere for subway art.  Making it personal of course is always the most interesting.  I had a customer wanting a subway design using all of the streets and avenues she had lived on throughout her life.  I love that idea!
One of my own winter wishes has always been a sleigh ride out under a dark winter sky filled with star light, wrapped up in a warm cozy blanket and maybe even some hot chocolate. A little hard to do this winter....but maybe sometime!  This is one of my first subway designs using Winter as a topic.  My plan is to do one for every season.

This Subway Art Vinyl custom design measures approx 14" X 10.5" and is not shown in direct relationship in size to the chair.   This one is for sale in my Etsy shop at this listing:
